Mimi and Viktor in GB action

Mimi Xu and her fellow GB team-mates Hannah Klugman and Hephzibah Oluwadare just missed out winning the girls’ under-16s Tennis Europe European Summer Cup competition. After winning their qualifying group the team beat Germany and then Serbia but lost out to the Czech Republic in the final.
Viktor Frydrych was also in European Summer Cup action, playing for the GB boys' under-18s.
Mimi lost 1-6, 3-6 in her singles match against Alena Kovackova, and 4-6, 6-7 (2) with Hephzibah in their doubles meeting with Eliska Forejtkova and Laura Samsonova. Hannah was beaten 3-6, 4-6 by Samsonova.
The GB boys' under-18 team beat Sweden to secure 7th place after losses to France and Spain. Viktor and partner Charlie Robertson fought back from a set down to beat Max Dahlin and Sebastian Eriksson 2-6, 7-5, 10-7 in their doubles encounter. Charlie also won his singles match against Keven Edengren 7-6(4), 6-3, while Henry Jefferson was beaten 6-7(6), 7-6(6), 5-7 in a close-fought encounter.
Tennis Wales Head of Performance Chris Lewis said: “The European Summer Cup is a great tournament and gave Mimi and Viktor another opportunity to represent Great Britain and play against some of the best players in their age groups in Europe.
“All in Welsh tennis can be proud of how Mimi and Viktor are performing on the international stage.”
