International Women's Day: Coaching bursaries helping to #InspireInclusion
• 4 MINUTE READ
On International Women's we hear from four of our great female coaches on how the Tennis Wales coaching bursary helped them them start their coaching journey and helped to #InspireInclusion .
Kimberley Mpukusa: Level-1 coach South Wales
"On this International Women's Day, I am immensely grateful for the support and financial assistance awarded to me by Tennis Wales Bursary. It enabled me to take my first steps into coaching. It also empowered me to make a meaningful impact within my community, inspiring inclusion and promoting equality through the sport I love."
Lottie Ainge: Level-2 coach North Wales
"The coaching bursary has helped me significantly. It's allowed me to begin my coaching journey, and for that I am significantly grateful. I now get to coach members of my local community from a range of different age groups and demographics, which I really enjoy."
Erin Oakley: Level-1 coach North Wales
"I started my coaching journey following on from being a tennis player. Females in sport are now being more and more recognised, and I wanted to make my own impact in this. Coaching gives me a feeling of helping others to reach their goals and being part of Tennis Wales coach bursary scheme has helped me achieve what I want to do in becoming a tennis coach."
Michaela McDonald: Level-2 coach North Wales
Michaela wanted to get into coaching after seeing the success of 'social', fun training sessions she introduced in increasining membership at her local tennis club.
Michaela said: "The success I experienced inspired me to want to take things further. With support from the LTA in the form of a coaching bursary, and with additional support from my club, I embarked on undertaking my LTA coaching qualifications. I am now keen to apply my new skills on an inclusive basis by introducing tennis to those of all abilities and ages in my local community - bringing the fun of the game to those who might not otherwise ever pick up a tennis racket."
