Felix Bockelmann-Evans Crowned Doubles British Champion at Lexus Junior Nationals

• 2 MINUTE READ

Welsh junior player Felix Bockelmann-Evans has been crowned a British National Champion after a sensational run to the Boys’ U18 Doubles title at the Lexus Junior National Championships alongside partner Ferran Redza.

The unseeded duo shocked the field, taking down the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st seeds en-route to lifting the prestigious trophy.

This is Felix’s first British National title, coming just months after claiming his first men’s title at a Progress Tour event held at Cardiff Met. His momentum shows no signs of slowing down. As a result of their Lexus Nationals triumph, Felix and Ferran have earned wild cards into international junior events, including qualifying for Junior Wimbledon.

Reacting to the win, Felix said:

“I’m blown away by the win. Myself and Ferran made a team and gave it our all. We played some tough matches but are delighted by the results. I can’t believe we will be going to Junior Wimbledon. That feels special.”

Felix, who hails from Penarth, is part of Tennis Wales’ National Training Programme, delivered in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University. He trains under the guidance of several experienced coaches, including Phil Thomas, Matthew Story and Callum Findlay.

Callum Findlay, Tennis Wales’ National Performance & University Head Coach said “Felix has had an outstanding 2025 so far. The hours of training on and off the court are paying off. Winning a competition as an unseeded player is always impressive, especially at such a high-level event,”

Felix now looks ahead to the next chapter of his tennis journey, with plans to head overseas to join the US college tennis system, a potential stepping stone for his long-term goal of playing professional tennis.

In a poetic twist, Felix follows in the footsteps of one of his current coaches, Matthew Story, who won the Boys’ Doubles title back in 2015. Other Welsh success at the Lexus Junior National championships includes Mimi Xu, who won the Girls’ Singles title in 2022 and 2024.

Welsh Tennis has had a great start to the 2025 with both Welsh male and female number ones achieving career-high rankings and 16 national or international finals already featuring Welsh players this year. 2025 is shaping up to be a landmark season for tennis in Wales
