Tennis Wales Ltd. is pleased to announce the appointment of Ellen Jones, Senior Lecturer in Performance Sport at Cardiff Metropolitan University, as an Independent Non-Executive Director for the national governing body of tennis and padel in Wales.

Ellen, who has a lifelong passion for tennis, brings over 20 years of experience in the Sport and Higher Education sector to her new role. She is the current Programme Director for the (BSc) Sport, Physical Education and Health (SPEH) undergraduate degree course and was previously, the Director of Tennis at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

A former professional tennis coach, Ellen has represented both Wales and South Wales at junior, senior, and veteran levels. Her vast experience in Welsh tennis, combined with her deep understanding of the sport’s challenges and opportunities, makes her an ideal addition to the Tennis Wales Board.

On her appointment, Ellen shared: “I’m thrilled to be joining the Tennis Wales Board. Tennis has been a central part of my life, and I continue to enjoy both playing the sport and contributing to it professionally. The game has provided me with incredible opportunities, and I’m passionate about its ability to transform lives. I look forward to contributing to the great work Tennis Wales is already doing to grow and expand the impact of the sport.”

Sarah Jones, Independent Chair of Tennis Wales, expressed: “We are thrilled to welcome Ellen to our Board of Directors. Her extensive understanding of the Welsh education landscape, along with her expertise in gender equity and inclusion, will greatly benefit our organisation as we continue to open up tennis across Wales.”

Ellen’s appointment will be formally noted at the Tennis Wales Annual General Meeting in May.
