LTA SERVES Mentoring Scheme
LTA SERVES venues can receive up to 3 sessions maximum in total annually (x1 session is a total of 3 hours, includes a 10–15-minute break) resulting in 9 hours of face to face support a year potentially.
The community groups can have a one-off mentoring session focusing on one of the areas listed below or have all 3 sessions with a focus on each of the below.
Mentoring sessions take place following completion of online LTA Youth Go! Tennis Activator course.
Focus areas:
- Learning and playing the game (for example: scoring, tennis formats, how to set-up competitions, basics: forehand, backhand, volley, serve)
- Delivering sessions to women and girls (for example: fun games and activities, lots of social interaction and breaking down skills)
- Social Impact Toolkit – Tennis games and activities (Self-confidence, Health & Well-being and Communities Together (Cohesion)
A mixture of fun games should be included throughout all sessions!
Please remember that many of the Tennis Activators are not Tennis Coaches or Specialists – many have only been introduced into tennis as part of LTA SERVES.
We want to ensure that they can enjoy tennis in whatever space and place they have available (and develop their knowledge and skills)– Please remember that it is unlikely that they have a full-size tennis court at their community centre!
LTA SERVES mentoring is free and accessible to Tennis Activators who have completed the online training.
Mentoring sessions are delivered at either own community organisations venue or a neighbouring community venue.
A minimum of 8 Tennis Activators are required to attend each session, all LTA SERVES venues will have received x1 LTA SERVES equipment pack in advance of the training which will be available on the day to use.
Tutors should check in advance to ensure that the groups tennis equipment is available for the day of sessions.
There is an open application process for LTA SERVES Tennis Tutors.
