Dragon Signs Welsh Local Tour
The Local Tour offers a range of one day competitions throughout the year for juniors from U8 - U18. The Local Tour gives players their first opportunity to compete, earn ranking points and matches count towards the ITF World Tennis Number.
Boys and girls events take place at local tennis venues in Wales. The Local Tour supports the development of players by providing fun, local and friendly competition for juniors who play regularly in tennis clubs and aspire towards county tennis. It’s a great first place to start competing against other players from other clubs, enables players to visit other venues and play on different surfaces and compete regularly.
Organisers at Local Tour events are on site to support players new to competition, and provide support to parents wishing to find out more about the competitive pathway in Wales.
Players are encouraged to play and compete in the Local Tour, with events from U8 – U18 on offer.
Here in Wales, the local tour is sponsored by our partners at Dragon Signs. Investment from Dragon Signs is helping provide more local tour competitions right across Wales. What’s more we have some fantastic, limited edition medals to compete for and collect for winners and runners up at each event. Each medal is unique, reflecting all that is great about Wales.
The Dragon Signs Welsh Local Tour welcomes absolutely anyone to enter and get competing! However, the events are Grade 5 events in-line with LTA Grading structure therefore the tour is designed for local, club players and those looking to compete regularly in the local area.

Did you know we also post all upcoming Local Tour events on our social channels each month!
This will vary depending on your age group and the time and court space your local, friendly referee has to work with. You should expect though to play your ‘recommended format’ based on the LTA Competition Regulations. What’s more each Local Tour event has a useful factsheet that will provide information on which format is planned to be used for each event.
FAST4 speeds up the normal game of tennis even more. It’s shorter and faster, but still competitive. We can sum it up like this:
- First to 4 games wins a set
- Tie-break at 3 games all to 7 points, 2 clear at 6-6
- Match tie-break at 1 set all to 10 points, 2 clear at 9-9
- No advantage scoring

When asked, parents and players both wanted quicker matches.
For you, it means less waiting around. For kids, it’s a way to play more matches (up to 4 in a day) and meet new friends (up to 16 in a competition).
We want to take on as many players as we can, but numbers are limited, so players are taken on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Entries will be accepted until the draw is full. Any players not let at this time will be placed on the reserve list.
If a player withdraws from an event, the player at the top of the reserve list will be selected to take their place.
