TS Open Tour 2025: Schedule, prize money & everything else you need to know
• 5 MINUTE READ
The schedule, prize money and rules have been confirmed for the 2025 season of the Tennis Scotland Open Tour.
The first of 19 ‘Leaderboard’ events begins on Friday 3 January with the North East of Scotland Indoor Championships at Aberdeen Tennis Centre, concluding 11 months later with the Scottish National Championships at the University of Stirling.
In between, the Tour will visit a range of venues around the country as players battle to qualify for the TS Open Tour Finals. Ewen Lumsden and Mia Wainwright were crowned champions of the 2024 Finals at Scotstoun in December, bringing the curtain down on another incredible season which saw BBC Scotland provide live coverage of the final day.
In addition to the Leaderboard, two doubles events have been scheduled on the 2025 calendar – starting with the new Scottish Indoor Doubles Championships in April, followed in November with the annual National Doubles Championships.
With significant investment, thanks to sponsorship, approximately £90,000 in prize money will be paid out throughout the season - allowing domestic players to fund their tennis careers both at home and internationally.
Bonus prize money will also be paid out to players who finish top of the Leaderboards to reward their consistency and commitment to the Tour, while a four-figure sum will be awarded to two individuals at the end of the year to reward good sporting behaviour.
The TS Open Tour was created by Tennis Scotland in partnership with clubs, organisers and other partners as a national structure of competition for yellow-ball players, creating opportunities for all levels of play. By also hosting workshops and development competitions, many Tour events also provide opportunities for tennis coaches and junior players to develop their skills.
Here is everything you need to know about the 2025 TS Open Tour:
Leaderboard events
By competing in TS Open Tour Leaderboard events – 19 existing Grade 2 and 3 singles competitions played across Scotland – players are awarded ranking points based on their performances.
Those ranking points are accumulated over the season into men’s and women’s Leaderboards, which act as a season-long qualifier for the TS Open Tour Finals.
To further reward their consistency, the top player on each Leaderboard will also be awarded with a £1,000 bonus prize.
Updates will be published regularly on the Tennis Scotland website and social media channels.

TS Open Tour Finals
The top 16 men’s and women’s players on the Leaderboard following the Scottish National Championships in November qualify for the two-day TS Open Tour Finals.
At the showpiece event, they will compete for a £10,000 prize pot and the coveted Sword trophies – named after Scotland internationals Derek and Allan Sword.
National Doubles Championships
The number of doubles events will… double in 2025 with the introduction of the new Scottish Indoor Doubles Championships in April.
And again, we’ll be hosting the Scottish National Doubles Championships in November.
Both events will offer prize money of £2,000 for the winning teams, with the runners-up earning £1,000, semi-finalists £500 and quarter-finalists £250.
TS Club Series
Adult and Junior players with a World Tennis Number between 20-40 can take part in tournaments at clubs across Scotland.

Leaderboard
How are rankings calculated?
Ranking points are accumulated based on performances in the singles tournaments at the 17 Leaderboard events.
Players are then ranked in order of most points accumulated.
If there’s a tie, how is the order determined?
- Highest number of Leaderboard events played.
- Player with the highest singles ranking points received from an individual event.
TS Open Tour Finals
Entries for the 16 men’s and women’s places at the TS Open Tour Finals will be accepted in order of the Leaderboard following the final qualifying event.
A total of two wildcards in each draw may be awarded. To be eligible for a wildcard, a player must have played in at least one Leaderboard event in the calendar year and won a match.
A wildcard may be awarded to a player who has not entered the tournament and that player may be seeded.
Seedings for the draw will be based on:
- ATP/WTA singles ranking
- ITF World Tennis singles ranking (1500 or better)
- ITF World Tennis Number (followed by LTA ranking)
Other rules & regulations
Grade 2 singles events will follow rules in line with the British Tour, which can be found here: LTA British Tour Professional Tennis Competition
Grade 3 singles events will follow LTA competition rules and regulations, however acceptances and seedings will be based on:
- ATP/WTA singles ranking
- ITF World Tennis singles ranking (must be 1500 or better)
- ITF World Tennis Number (followed by LTA ranking if WTN same)
Withdrawals
Players withdrawing after the deadline will receive late withdrawal points, with the exception of a player who withdraws because they are competing in an LTA GB Pro-Series/ITF World Tennis Tour /ATP/WTA event.
Prize money
Quarter-final prize money will only be awarded when the main draw includes at least 16 players.
Should fewer than 16 players feature in the draw, prize money will be awarded from the semi-finals only.
Where a draw is published with a minimum of 16 players and then withdrawals subsequently lead to fewer than 16 players starting the event, quarter-final prize money will be paid.
Fair Play Award
The TS Open Tour Fair Play Award is designed to encourage all players to adhere to the Fair Play Pledges and maintain a good standard of fair play throughout the year across all tournaments.
Based on input from the organisers of each event, our tournament committee will nominate one men's and one women's player to receive the Award.
