Hamish Stewart wins sixth ITF title of 2025 & hundreds of matches at Inter-District

• 3 MINUTE READ

Hamish Stewart’s remarkable form continued as he lifted his sixth ITF World Tennis Tour title of the year.

The Scot teamed up with local favourite Amr Elsayed to win the doubles event at the 11th M15 Sharm El Sheikh of the season.

That made it two titles in two weeks in Egypt for Stewart, having also won the doubles title at the 10th event.

Going into the event as top seeds, the pair didn’t have it all their own way, needing a match tie-break in the quarter-finals to edge past Reece Falck and Finley Hall from New Zealand.

And in the final, they had to come from a set down to turn the tables on Vesa Ahti from Finland and Viktor Jovic from Serbia, getting their hands on the trophy after a 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory.

West of Scotland win Inter-District

One of the highlights of the Scottish domestic calendar saw more than 100 players come together at Strathallan School.

Young teams from nine districts battled it out over four days at various junior age groups at the Scottish Inter-District Championships.

After more than 300 matches, ability in abundance and plenty of competitive spirit, West of Scotland were crowned overall champions.

They also claimed the title in the 12U category, while both the 15U and 18U titles went to Tayside.

Young Scots compete at Junior Nationals

A number of young Scots travelled to the LTA National Tennis Centre at Roehampton for the Lexus Junior National Championships.

Murray Watters reached the final of the 16U boys doubles with partner Leo Wright, finishing as runners-up to the event’s top seeds.

In the girls doubles, Hanna Augustynska and Aadya Iyer Chadalawada enjoyed a run to the last four, with an impressive comeback win against the fourth seeds in the quarter-finals.

Hanna also impressed in the singles event, coming through qualifying to reach the quarter-finals, while there were also wins for Lucas Nolte as he too qualified for the main draw.

Rosenzweig & Chadalawada win on TS Open Tour

Nicolas Rosenzweig and Aadya Iyer Chadalawada picked up titles on the Tennis Scotland Open Tour as they won the ROGY Edinburgh Open.

Second seed Rosenzweig had to overcome a tough quarter-final en route to victory at Craiglockhart Tennis Centre, fighting back after dropping the second set to beat Finlay Watters in a match tie-break 6-3, 6-7, 10-5.

His opponent in the final was seventh seed David Killean, with Rosenzweig proving too strong in a 6-4, 6-1 victory.

Chadalawada fully justified her top seeding as she dropped just seven games all weekend, completing her title-winning run with a 6-1, 6-0 victory of Eva Dorado.

Doubles champions crowned

There was an action-packed weekend at Scotstoun for the Scottish Indoor Doubles Open Championships, which is also part of the TS Open Tour.

In the men’s event, Jonny O’Mara and Ewen Lumsden collected their second domestic doubles title as a team after an impressive run which saw them reach the final without dropping a set.

The top seeds, though, were made to work for their title in the decider, coming from a set down to beat second seeds Robert Cowley and Liam Hignett 1-6, 6-2, 10-5.

Lucy Furness and Halle Pringle took the women’s title without dropping a set across the weekend.

The third seeds clinched their victory with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Aimee Knowles and Molly Robinson in the final.
