Strathallan do double at School Championships

The 2024 Scottish Schools Championships were held at George Watson’s College, Edinburgh, with Strathallan School displaying dominance in both boys and girls' events

The new format for 2024 saw the girls’ teams compete on Thursday and the boys on Friday in a doubles based compass draw.

On Thursday, top seeds Strathallan kicked off their campaign with a win over St George’s school 2-0 before moving past St Joseph’s College 2-0 in the quarter-final.

The semi-final encounter between Strathallan and Mary Erskine was level after initial doubles play meaning the match was settled in a tie-break shootout which went the way of the top seeds.

Strathallan then got the better of last year’s winners Dunblane High School as they managed to secure the win 2-0 to take home the title.

In the boys' draw, Strathallan were also the top seeds. They proved dominant as they overcame George Watson’s in the quarter-finals and Dunblane High School in the semi-finals.

In the battle for the championships, Strathallan were able to get the win 2-0 against High School of Glasgow to complete the double for the school.

Led by coaches Tommy Ogilvie and Ryan Martin, the wins constitute the first Scottish Schools tournament titles for Strathallan.
