• 1 MINUTE READ
Six months after opening two newly surfaced polymeric courts to the Midlothian community in 2022, Rosewell Tennis Club picked up the coveted Park Venue of the Year prize at the annual Tennis Scotland awards.
The club now boasts 110 members and offers coaching for juniors, adult beginners and improvers, as well as schoolchildren through the Active Schools programme.
Location: Rosewell Park, Carnethie Street, Rosewell EH24 9ND
Established: 2022
Membership: 110
The club is largely supported by a group of volunteers who worked tirelessly for years to secure funding and leases which allowed for the courts to be refurbished.
With the revamp completed in autumn 2022, the club plan to host their official opening on 12 August, when they will celebrate by hosting tennis sessions for all ages.
Chairperson Juliette Paris-Newton recruited the founding team and has since gone on to complete the LTA Level 1 coaching qualification, allowing her to deliver junior tennis programmes and taster sessions.
Thanks to the club’s amazing growth and popularity, Rosewell Tennis Club will also host an intra-club tournament to help members prepare for future competitions.
Winning the Park Venue of the Year award was a fantastic achievement for us after all the work we put in, from securing funding to refurbishing the courts. We look forward to welcoming more members of the Midlothian community as our club grows to become a hub in the community.
