Oriam Head Coach

Recruitment Underway For Head Coach To Lead New £4.5 million Indoor Tennis Facility At Oriam

• 3 MINUTE READ

Recruitment has begun for a Head Coach to lead on its participation and tennis development programme at Oriam, Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre, based at Heriot-Watt University.

The Head Coach/Development Officer will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Oriam tennis programme, including developing the tennis curriculum, delivering tennis sessions and helping to maximise court utilisation and community use of the centre.

The ambitious tennis centre aims to grow the game to new audiences, while supporting existing players by providing additional indoor courts via pay to play and lets. Further to that the Oriam will provide weekly programmed activity aiming to attract over 250 children and adults into a range of tennis activities within the first year and with continued growth in each of the following five years.

As one of the largest indoor tennis centres built in the UK in recent years, the facility will play host to a range of Tennis Scotland activity across competitions, workforce, and performance, and deliver an extensive community tennis programme for all ages and abilities for the public, which will all be delivered by the Head Coach/Development Officer.

Supported by Oriam’s Head of Delivery, the successful candidate will also be responsible for a team of tennis coaches to deliver the centre’s programming.

Applications can be submitted until midnight on 15 January 2023 and more information about the role is available here.

Construction of the six-court indoor tennis centre began in late August after funding was secured through the Transforming Scottish Indoor Tennis (TSIT) fund in partnership with Tennis Scotland, Oriam, sportscotland, and the LTA. Staff have been working hard to prepare for the opening of the facility at Heriot-Watt University ahead of opening in late Summer 2023.
