2023 TS Open Tour Information

Tennis Scotland has announced further development of the TS Open Tour, with significant investment into the 18 event 2023 competition creating a quality domestic competition calendar.
The 2023 TS Open Tour will be enhanced with a significant investment, via sponsorship, with increased prize pots of up to £7,600 for some events with the goal of encouraging player development and raising the level of competition for players.
The Tour has been created by Tennis Scotland in partnership with clubs and organisers as a national structure of competition for yellow ball players, creating opportunities for all levels of play.
This year, the TS Open Tour will consist of the following areas:
- TS Open Tour Leaderboard
- TS Open Tour Leaderboard Events
- TS Open Tour Finals
- TS Open Tour National Doubles Open Championships
- TS 100 Club Series events
TS Open Tour Leaderboard
The TS Open Tour Leaderboard returns once again in 2023.
By competing in TS Open Tour Leaderboard events, players accumulate points which mirror the ranking points players receive after every event.
The top 16 male and female players on the leaderboard after the Scottish National Championships in November then qualify for the two-day TS Open Tour Finals in December where they will compete for a prize pot of £10,000 and the coveted Sword trophies.
TS Open Tour 2023 Leaderboard events:
18 existing Grade 3 and Grade 2 Open tournaments in Scotland are part the TS Open Tour, players competing in these events will be awarded ranking points, which will go towards TS Open Tour leaderbaord points.

TS Open Tour Finals
As part of the Tennis Scotland Open Tour there will also be an end of season Masters event. Players can qualify for the two-day event, taking place in December, by accumulating points from the TS Open Tour circuit throughout the year. The singles points will be displayed in the TS Open Tour leaderboard, with the top 16 male and female singles players qualifying for the Masters and gaining the opportunity to get their hands on the Sword trophies, named in memory of former Scottish internationalists Derek and Allan Sword.
TS Open Tour National Doubles Open Championships
In 2023 we will be holding a stand alone National Doubles event, the is scheduled for November and played over 4 days, 2 days qualifying, 2 days main draw. More information will be able soon.

TS Open Tour Tier 2 Prize Money
Winner - £700, Runner Up £350, Semi Finalist £125, Quarter Finalist £75

- British Tour - University of Stirling
- University of Stirling Open Championships
- Whitecraigs Easter Open Championships
- East of Scotland Open Championships
- West of Scotland Open Championships
- Craiglockhart Open Championships

TS Open Tour National Doubles Open Championships Prize Money
Winners - £2000, Runners Up £1000, Semi Finalists £500, Quarter Finalists £250
All other TS Open Tour Leaderboard events will have independent prize money, please see individual tournament fact sheets for this information.
TS Open Tour Club Series
These tournaments are for club improver players, adults and juniors with a World Tennis Number between 20-40 These tournaments run across all of Scotland by local tennis clubs and organisers. The format for each tournament will be Fast4 and they will range from one half-day day to one full day.

All events can be entered online via the LTA competition search tool.
Competition Rules and Regulations
Grade 2 singles events will follow rules in line with British Tour, rules and further information can be found here:
LTA British Tour Professional Tennis Competition
Grade 3 singles events will follow LTA competition rules and regulations with the following additions:
Acceptances and seedings will be based on:
- ATP/WTA singles ranking
- ITF World Tennis singles of 1500 or better
- ITF World Tennis Number (followed by LTA ranking if WTN same)
Withdrawals:
With the exception of a player who withdraws because they are competing in a LTA GB Pro-Series/ITF World Tennis Tour /ATP/WTA event, all other players withdrawing after the withdraw deadline will receive late withdrawal points.
Prize money:
Quarter final prize money will only be awarded where a minimum of a full 16 player draw in an event is published.
Should a draw be published with less than 16 players, prize money will be awarded from semi-finals onwards only.
Where a draw is published with a minimum of 16 players and then withdrawals and reserves subsequently lead to less than 16 players starting the event, quarter final prize money will be honored.
TS Open Tour Leaderboard rules
How are rankings calculated?
A player’s leaderboard position is made up by their singles results within the leaderboard Calendar year of open singles events only.
- Points awarded to players from any round they would achieve ranking points from.
How is the order determined?
The ranking order is determined by:
- Total points in singles over the defined leaderboard calendar;
- if tied, the total number of events used to obtain the results
- if tied, the highest singles Ranking points received from individual events
- if tied, the second highest singles Ranking points received from individual events
TS Open Tour Finals
Acceptances for TS Open Tour Finals will be in order of leaderboard at completion of the tournament year.
Wild Cards – 1 space in every 8 – may be awarded. To be eligible for a wild card a player must have played in at least 1 leaderboard event in the calendar year and won a match. A wild card may be awarded to a player who has not entered the tournament and may be seeded.
Seedings for the draw will be based on:
- ATP/WTA singles ranking
- ITF World Tennis singles of 1500 or better
- ITF World Tennis Number (followed by LTA ranking if WTN same)
