The Executive Team
Scott was appointed CEO of the Lawn Tennis Association on 8 January 2018.
Prior to joining the LTA, Scott had a successful business career in the sports and leisure industry. He founded the health, fitness and racquets club group, Next Generation Clubs, in 1997 and expanded the company internationally, ahead of the Company purchasing David Lloyd Leisure from Whitbread plc in 2007. As Group Chief Executive of David Lloyd Leisure, Scott headed up the integration and subsequent growth of the business through to its sale to TDR Capital in 2013. Scott stayed with the company as CEO before stepping into a non-executive role in 2016 and remains a Director.
At the LTA, Scott launched the LTA’s vision of Tennis Opened Up as the organisation set out a five-year strategy to grow the game and reverse the decline in participation. By December 2023 at the conclusion of the strategy, adult monthly participation had doubled, annual participation had grown by 44%, there were nine different British players in the top 100 during the year - the most since 1978, and the LTA’s database of tennis fans had tripled to 1.5m. The organisation also embarked on a major project to improve 3000 tennis courts in parks across Britain with the support of the UK Government and LTA Tennis Foundation. A new three-year plan for the strategy has now been launched to build on this success and continue to open up tennis.
